News, Resources, and Grant Opportunities from Robotics ECF

Please see the information below from Diana and our friends at RECF, Robotics Education Competition Foundation regarding drones/robotics competition information, grants, resources,  and other opportunities.  Please pass along as you see fit to other staff members and students.
Happy July! Great things are happening here at the RECF! We’re fine tuning our RECFevents.org team registration and event posting system, and our new competition software will be released soon. We’ve also created a few new resources:
  • Games.recf.org has the game manuals, Q&A system, and scoring calculators for our robotics programs, and drones will be added there in August.
  • Forum.recf.org hosts conversations with RECF staff and community members
  • Drones.recf.org provides a quick overview of our two drone programs, including game manual links

On July 11-15th, the RECF staff and many of our coaches and event partners will be in St. Louis for the RECF Drone and Robotics Summits. We’re looking forward to a week filled with learning and connecting with our communities. We can’t wait to share highlights, insights, and exciting updates with everyone during and after the event!

We are excited about what the future holds for teams, coaches and event partners, and we’re looking forward to a year of learning and growth. You find the July updates for all RECF programs in the RECF Library; visit this article for drone-focused content, and this article for robotics-focused content
We currently have High School team registration grants for robotics.
We also have ADC Team grants and ADC Pro team grants available for those of you that want to start teams.  There are a handful for returning ADC teams as well.  I recommend that you apply as soon as possible, as they run out quickly.
Last bit of good grant news is that we do have a limited number of Event Partner Grants for Achieve, ADC, and ADC Pro.  Please let me know if I can help you with these.

As always, contact me with any questions or concerns. I’m happy to help!

Research opportunity through our friends at NREA

About the Opportunity

The Research Partnership for Professional Learning (RPPL) is recruiting district partners for a Gates Foundation-funded study on math professional learning. The project focuses on identifying which PLC and coaching practices are most associated with improvements in instructional practice and student outcomes, and producing practical guidance districts can use.

What participating districts receive:

- Access to RPPL's Math CBPL Shared Measures Toolkit, a set of validated, formative instruments designed to help districts monitor and strengthen PL quality in math
- Direct support from RPPL's research team on measure calibration, data interpretation, and connecting measure data to instructional decisions
- Membership in a cross-district Community of Practice with other participating districts and PL organizations, including structured learning sessions and at least one in-person convening
- Travel support for two team members to attend the RPPL Annual Convening in 2026 (October 20-21, Philadelphia) and 2027
- Cross-site learning and early access to findings from across all participating districts
- Co-designed, practical guidance for integrating shared measures into PLC and coaching cycles, formatted for district use
- Funds to support the time and effort of participation, including data preparation and integration into RPPL's secure data environment

What they are looking for in a district partner:

- Medium-sized districts (roughly 2,500-7,000 students), including those in rural or peri-urban contexts
- Implementing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in math
- Established PLC and/or coaching routines already in place supporting that implementation
- Leadership interested in using shared measures for learning and improvement
- Bonus: districts already using or exploring AI-enabled tools in their PL or coaching work
- Preference for districts in the Midwest or West Coast, though they are open to the right fit elsewhere

The project is designed to embed into what districts are already doing. RPPL does not design or deliver PL. Their role is to support measure use, facilitate structured reflection across sites, and synthesize cross-district learning.

Interested leaders can reach out directly to Nitika Tolani, Managing Director for Learning and Engagement, at [email protected].

Flow Forms and TREA Launch Pilot to Digitize PD Requests for Rural Texas Districts

Rural school districts in Texas run leaner than most. A single secretary or curriculum director often handles workflows that larger districts split across an entire department. So when a process like a Professional Development Request moves through a building, the friction lands hard: a form gets walked from a teacher to a principal, sits on a desk, gets re-keyed somewhere downstream, and a week later somebody is asking where the approval went.

Flow Forms is partnering with the Texas Rural Education Association to do something about that.
