About the OpportunityThe Research Partnership for Professional Learning (RPPL) is recruiting district partners for a Gates Foundation-funded study on math professional learning. The project focuses on identifying which PLC and coaching practices are most associated with improvements in instructional practice and student outcomes, and producing practical guidance districts can use.
What participating districts receive:
- Access to RPPL's Math CBPL Shared Measures Toolkit, a set of validated, formative instruments designed to help districts monitor and strengthen PL quality in math
- Direct support from RPPL's research team on measure calibration, data interpretation, and connecting measure data to instructional decisions
- Membership in a cross-district Community of Practice with other participating districts and PL organizations, including structured learning sessions and at least one in-person convening
- Travel support for two team members to attend the RPPL Annual Convening in 2026 (October 20-21, Philadelphia) and 2027
- Cross-site learning and early access to findings from across all participating districts
- Co-designed, practical guidance for integrating shared measures into PLC and coaching cycles, formatted for district use
- Funds to support the time and effort of participation, including data preparation and integration into RPPL's secure data environment
What they are looking for in a district partner:
- Medium-sized districts (roughly 2,500-7,000 students), including those in rural or peri-urban contexts
- Implementing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in math
- Established PLC and/or coaching routines already in place supporting that implementation
- Leadership interested in using shared measures for learning and improvement
- Bonus: districts already using or exploring AI-enabled tools in their PL or coaching work
- Preference for districts in the Midwest or West Coast, though they are open to the right fit elsewhere
The project is designed to embed into what districts are already doing. RPPL does not design or deliver PL. Their role is to support measure use, facilitate structured reflection across sites, and synthesize cross-district learning.
